To be able to import data directly into the Character Builder. That would be the point where I'm encouraging players to roll a class I designed, every time we need a new character for any reason. Because it's easy.

I completely agree pogorobot!

Technically, it's highly feasible. For one, the 4ePT exports all its data as XML, which can be easily read by anyone or anything. Secondly, the Character Builder and the 4ePT are written in .NET. Although not necessary, sharing a development framework is always a good thing.

Unfortunately, it's highly unlikely Wizards of the Coast would support such a feature, and it's entirely up to them to do so. There's nothing I can do from my end, except reverse-engineer the Character Builder... and that's simply impossible for many, many reasons (most of them being related to breaking the law).

I hear ya. My current plan is to get enough articles published in Dragon that I can convince them that it's to their benefit to let me easily playtest cool ideas - and ideally, eventually release some independently that are way too crazy for first-party support, but are still downloadable to the Character Builder.

In theory, there's totally room in their business model for that - I'd be making their product better, at no cost to them. Look for an announcement in, oh... We'll say mid-2011. ;)
